Waiting in Silence

by Oak Hill Studio

Be still and know that I am God. ~Psalm 46:10

We have enjoyed a very quiet, tame winter here in Connecticut, and now there is a certain stillness outdoors; a quiet expectancy of what lies in wait just around the bend.  The photo above, though rather stolid, has a very definite beauty and appeal to me.  Our apple trees have been pruned and the raspberries cut to the ground in preparation for good things to come.  A little raking and cleaning up, and all is ready for the grand entrance of the glory and grandeur of spring.  I really do love this time of year.

The first requirements of silence are to have faith and patience, and, with one’s whole heart, strength and power, to love and to hope.  ~St. Gregory of Sinai
